Piezo Motor Driver

Nanonis offers an ultra-fast high-voltage ramp generator for driving stick-slip piezo motors. The ramp height can be continuously adjusted up to ±400V. The eight or sixteen channels of the PMD4 can be run individually or in parallel. The high voltage output connector is compatible with all types of microscopes.

  Patented Electronics

The patented electronics of the PMD4 operates at voltages of up to ±400V and can drive a capacitive load of up to 3μF. The fast transition of the ramp is below 1μs with a peak current of over 20A. The ground concept allows for different configurations and ensures absolute silence on the piezos when the motors are not running.

  8 or 16 Output Lines

In the standard configuration one generator is multiplexed to eight output lines. Configurations with sixteen output lines or two independent generators for opposing or delayed voltage ramps are possible.

  Specifically designed for low-temperature setups

The PMD4 was specifically designed with low-temperature applications in mind. The sharp transitions and high voltages allow for simpler piezo stacks resulting in more rugged mechanical designs.

The SO5 and TSO are 16-channel precision, low-noise analog output add on modules for the Nanonis SPM Control System and the Nanonis Tramea quantum transport measurement system. Nanonis Tramea users can profit from up to 48 temperature-stabilized 20-bit signal sources able to control even the most complex nanostructures.
